Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is likely to miss the first two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against the Netherlands starting later this week.

As per Pakistan Cricket Board (PCP) sources, Shaheen is yet to fully recover from the knee injury he sustained during the recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka, which Pakistan leveled by 1-1.

Afridi suffered a knee injury during a practice session for the second and final Test and was ruled out of the final game, in which Pakistan lost by 246 runs.

Sources close to the team management say the premier fast bowler is not fully fit yet. Reports suggest that the management wants his inclusion in Pakistan’s final squad for the Asia Cup T20 2022, which starts on August 27. This is why he is being given proper rest.

In his absence, raw paceman Naseem Shah is most likely to make his ODI debut against the Netherlands.

Note that the Pakistan cricket team is currently in the Netherlands where they will play three ODIs before traveling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the much-anticipated Asia Cup.

The Green Shirts will face arch-rivals India on August 28.
