Former Pakistan captain turned commentator Wasim Akram put his weight behind Virat Kohli ahead of the Asia Cup and backed the former India skipper to regain his form in the upcoming tournament.

Speaking about Kohli’s lackluster show, Wasim said that he felt Kohli was unfairly criticized by fans for the last couple of years.

The former Pakistan captain believed that despite his lack of form, Babar Azam has a long way to go before he can be compared to Virat Kohli.

“The fans and media have been very harsh with Virat Kohli on social media,” Akram said while speaking with Ravi Shastri on the Asia Cup special broadcast on Star Sports.

Shastri, who was the Indian team’s head coach until recently, said the workload on all three forms was taking a toll on Kohli and that the break will help him get back to his best.
