Pakistan skipper Babar Azam’s brilliant century helped Pakistan successfully chase the 200-run target against England in the second T20I on Thursday.

The captain’s 66-ball 110, complimented by Mohammad Rizwan’s 51-ball 88, helped hunt down the 200-run target in just 19.3 overs.

Meanwhile, Babar also register a unique record to his name as he completed 8000 T20 runs during the innings.

The skipper, who has had a blue patch in the shortest format of late, not only regained his form but also surpassed the 8000 T20 runs and became the only second Pakistani cricketer after Shoaib Malik to achieve this milestone.

Earlier, England set a 200-run target for Pakistan thanks to captain Moeen Ali’s 22-ball fifty. In response, Pakistan chased down the target without losing any wicket, setting and breaking multiple records in the process.

Fans’ reactions

Cricket fans, who were unhappy with Pakistan openers’ performance of late, were jubilant about the team’s phenomenal win.

Paying a special tribute to Babar Azam on his performance, a Twitter user, Numan Umar wrote: “An increase in the number of foxes and jackals in the jungle doesn’t mean the lion lost its kingship,” a user Numan wrote on Twitter.

An international cricket coach, Ian Pont, said: “Babar showing why he’s the best T20 batter in the world.”
