Babar Azam becomes the fastest Asian batter to 11,000 runs

Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam breaks yet another record as he became the fastest Asian batter to score 11,000 runs in international cricket. Babar became only the 8th Pakistan batter to score 11,000 runs in international cricket.
He achieved this feat in his 251st international innings and became the fastest Asian to do so, surpassing Virat Kohli‘s record of 261 innings. It seems like Babar made a habit of breaking Virat’s records.
Babar achieved this feat against Bangladesh in a tri-series match at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Thursday, 13th October 2022.
Before the match, Babar needed 53 runs to break the record. He contributed 55 runs off 40 balls helping Pakistan to chase 174 runs target against Bangladesh.
This was also the 29th fifty of Babar Azam and he surpassed 28 fifties of Rohit Sharma becoming the 2nd batter with the most number of fifties in T20Is. He is just 4 fifties Behind Virat Kohli, who is leading the chart with 33 fifties in T20Is. Babar Azam is also Pakistan’s leading run scorer in T20Is.
The Stylish batsman also surpassed Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar, who scored 11,000 runs in 262 innings, and Pakistan legend Javed Miandad who achieved the milestone in 266 international innings.
Babar Azam’s milestone includes 3216 runs in 86 innings from T20I cricket, 4664 runs in 90 innings from ODIs, and 3122 runs in 75 innings from test cricket.
