Babar Azam officially recognized as ‘king’ by ICC

The International Cricket Council (ICC) dubbed Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam as the ‘king’ of cricket.

The cricket’s governing body tweeted Babar’s animated picture, showing Babar sitting on a throne.

The picture was captioned “the Badshah” meaning “the king”.

“The Badshah. How will Pakistan fare in T20 World Cup 2022 under Babar Azam’s rule?” the tweet captioned.

Babar Azam is Pakistan’s all-format captain. As of today, Babar has captained Pakistan in 59 T20 internationals and has won 48 of them.

He is the only Pakistani captain to have defeated arch-rivals India twice in the T20Is in ICC or ACC events, including the famous win during the T20 World Cup last year.

He will lead his side for the second time against India in their opening T20 World Cup match on Sunday (today).

The two arch-rivals last met faced each other twice during the Asia Cup 2022 last month and won once each.
