Senior player leaves Peshawar Zalmi ahead of PSL 8

Senior wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has parted ways with its Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi. He will, however, be available for PSL 2023 draft.
Akmal announced the news on his YouTube channel, saying he has left the Zalmi franchise.
The development comes as PSL management announced updated categories of domestic players.
“I am not part of the Zalmi franchise anymore,” Kamran said in his Vlog. “I was informed by the head coach Darren Sammy that they will not retain me for the next season. So, I will be available for selection in the draft. Let’s see which franchise picks me.”
It is to be noted that Kamran Akmal was dropped to Silver Category by the team management, after which he decided to leave the franchise. However, Zalmi picked him again in the gold category.
Earlier, PSL management updated the players’ categories according to which several players got downgraded. Among those was former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed who got downgraded to the Gold category for the next season. Sarfraz played PSL 7 in the Platinum category.
